Why should I donate securities?
Donating securities is both beneficial for you and our organization. Direct donations of publicly traded securities are free from capital gains tax. This means more money goes to YouQuest, and your charitable tax credit increases; you receive the charitable tax receipt for the market value on the date the security is received by our broker (Canada Helps).
How do I donate securities to YouQuest?
- You can provide a donation of securities through CanadaHelps. Simply fill out their online securities donation form. Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation email.
- Send your completed Letter of Direction form to your financial advisor or investment firm. This authorizes the transfer of shares to CanadaHelps.
- Once your shares have been transferred, you will receive a confirmation email with your charitable tax receipt and CanadaHelps will disburse the proceeds to YouQuest.
